 Activities:

  • Preparation of an innovative, trans-European and transferable methodology to prepare Regional Environmental Sustainable Tourism Plans (RESTPs), co-ordinating tourism and environmental planning at regional level by a network of agencies and authorities in land use planning, economic development, conservation and environmental management and protection.

  • From the RESTPs, carry out a pilot application of its methods in all partner areas (Magnesia in Greece, Dee Estuary in UK, Avellino in Italy) and identify types of actions required to introduce environmentally friendly tourism projects in each partner region, using intra- and inter-regional co-operation and setting out frameworks for future implementation of projects.

  • Implement, monitor and evaluate relevant demonstration projects within the overall RESTP in each partner area

  • Revise and refine the RESTP methodology and the regional strategies based on the monitoring and evaluation of the pilot demonstration projects in the four partner areas

  • Disseminate all findings, working methods and project outputs to third parties.
